STATE AND GLOBAL JEWEL - PRESERVE AND PROTECT

This coastline has the most numerous, intact pre contact cultural and archeological sites in Hawaii.  The North Kohala community has worked for over 50 years to preserve this coastline.  Everyone's help is needed to care for this area.  When visiting, please kokua (help) by respecting the natural and cultural resources:  stay on paths, leave the pohaku (stones). coral and plants where they are, and stay a respectful distance from animals, especially the Hawaiian monk seal.

We enter these areas as guests with a sense of humility and avoid stepping on orentering the many rock cultural structures.
